 Agatha Carubia, Founder

Widely known as a versatile voice teacher, mentor to teachers, and inspiration to her students, Agatha Carubia has been a force behind scores of young singers' successes. Her foundational method of teaching voice extends from classical technique to popular style vocal coaching. Her specific attention to, and illumination of the physical body as vocal instrument has been fortified by being an avid Yoga practitioner and RYT 500 trained in Anusara Yoga.

Agatha’s classical, theater, and pop students have been accepted into vocal programs at Curtis Institute of Music, The Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, Boston University, Boston Conservatory, Berklee College of Music, Carnegie Mellon University, Eastman School of Music, Oberlin Conservatory, Westminster Choir College, UCLA, USC, NYU, Chapman University, Conservatorio Nacional de Música de México, Royal Academy of Denmark, Music Academy of the West, The Tanglewood Festival and many others. She has thoroughly enjoyed working with award winning contemporary singer/songwriters (Katy Perry, Mendeleyev), as well as with opera singers performing at the Metropolitan Opera and other international opera houses.

Agatha has been the Vocal Coach of the Music Academy of the West Summer             Festival’s mentoring program, the MERIT program. Her “Heart-Based Singing”               workshops are held in Santa Barbara, California, and on the Big Island of Hawaii.

A distinguished artist and award-winning soprano with her Bachelor and Master’s Degrees from the Juilliard School, Agatha continues to enjoy performing, composing, and writing. In 2015, she released Grace, a CD of Sanskrit Chants.

" Agatha is one of a kind: passionate, powerful, in-your-face-blunt, compassionate, generous, nurturing, and above all an extraordinarily talented teacher who is fiercely committed to her students. I have personally witnessed again and again over the last twelve years her students having break-through moments of vocal and personal power transformation. Her years of teaching and research culminate in Heart-Based Singing the book and her unique method can now transcend the boundaries of her private studio and be shared with the world. What a profound gift to us! "
